As we gradually return to in-person exercise classes here in Melbourne, a common question we have been facing is:

“How often should I come in for a Pilates class?”

While that may seem like a simple enough question, there are a variety of factors that need to be considered when determining what Pilates schedule is best for you and your needs and goals.

So, before we determine how often you should come in, let’s discuss what 4ME Pilates classes can offer you.

What Are The Benefits Of 4ME Pilates+ Classes?

4ME Pilates+ workout will provide you with a total body workout that can help to improve your strength, mobility and muscle tone. The more often you complete Pilates, the faster it will be for you to notice the gains that our Pilates classes can provide.

Keep in mind, like most things in life the results you see are primarily determined by your commitment. Finding time in your week to participate in Pilates classes provide you with a lot of benefits, and get you to achieve your goals much sooner!

How Fatigued Will I Feel After My Class?

This varies depending on two main factors, your fitness levels and the type of class you participated in. If you are coming from a background of very little exercise, then you may feel rather fatigued after our classes. However, if you are an elite-level athlete, you may recover much sooner.

Typically, we find those who are new to Pilates will leave feeling a sense of fatigue through the worked muscle group. However, most are usually refreshed and ready to go again within 24-48 hours.

Like any form of exercise, recovery from your Pilates session is very important. Getting sufficient rest between Pilates classes will assist you in developing your muscles.

So, How Often Should I Come In?

As you can probably tell from the information above, this is a case-by-case answer. But, we can provide insight based on what we find works best for a majority of our members!

Most of our members will attend a Pilates class at least 3 times per week and be able to achieve their fitness goals. Those who can attend 4-5 times per week will tend to see results faster, however as we discussed above, it is all dependant on your commitment.

For complete Pilates beginners, we advise commencing with 3 classes per week to ensure you give your body enough time to rest between sessions. Then as your fitness levels increase, you can increase the number of classes you attend.

If you are using Pilates to supplement other forms of exercise or sporting activities, we suggest you attend 2-3 times per week to ensure you can gain the full benefit Pilates has to offer your athletic performance.
